In late 2009, the ATO decided to temporarily put a stop on the issuing of letters to individuals advising them when a super co-contribution payment was made into their super fund.

After recently reviewing this procedure the ATO has decided to put a stop to issuing these letters indefinitely. The decision was made after reviewing cost-benefits and feedback received since the temporary stop in 2009.

Super funds generally still report super co-contribution payments to members in their member statements.

The ATO will continue to monitor feedback from funds and individuals and if necessary they will review the decision in future.
