Mike

Account Manager

"I came to work at WA Local Super in 2007 because I was looking to find job satisfaction in my chosen field of investment & superannuation.

I certainly found what I was looking for!

My first role within the company was as Team Leader for the Administration arm. The team I headed were of a very high caliber and were fantastic to work with, all with an attitude of ‘how can we do things better?’ This role allowed me to see the inner workings of the processes and procedures the company employs within its operation. The managers around me were always open to new ideas for improvement and often requested my feedback and ideas. I knew I was in the right place when I realized that with every new system implementation the first question would be, “How will this benefit the client?” That’s an attitude that can only lead to success for a company, which it undoubtedly has with much more to come.

The management team and HR department supported my transition to the role of Account Manager (Member Services Consultant), my current role, and were extremely helpful in accommodating my professional progression to this stage of my development. This included the provision of financial assistance in acquiring additional qualifications to enable me to perform in the role at the optimum level.

As an Account Manager, I spend my days meeting a diverse group of life and helping them consider options that they may not have known available to them, as well as explaining products and avenues in a manner that they are able to understand. In addition to this, I work with a group of professionals who are very well schooled in the industry and are always helpful in all situations, which makes it a pleasure to come to work each day. WA Local Super are also very flexible and understanding in accommodating my outside activities and entrust me with managing my workday around these activities should I need to.

Helping people maximise their wealth through a company which exists only to provide benefits to members and is not just in the business of making money, while surrounded with people who love what they do and who value me as a person is definitely my idea of job satisfaction."
